Mask Angels of Norcross, Georgia, started out as just 2 people sewing medical masks at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak. Today, that group is comprised of over 20 volunteers – most of whom are Vietnamese nail salon technicians – sewing thousands of masks for doctors, nurses, and medical workers at the front lines. As they write on their website, “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”
Thuy Hotle, who nominated Mask Angels, says they have already donated 12,000 masks and mask covers to hospitals throughout the state and nation! Hospital recipients have included Piedmont Athens, Emory Decatur, Emory St. Joseph’s, Northside Hospital Gwinnett, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and Southern Regional Medical Center.
The Mask Angels are undoubtedly COVID Community Heroes! They are accepting donations ([email protected] memo: Mask Angels) which will go toward materials and buying masks for healthcare workers and anyone needing masks.
