COVID Community Hero: Sharon Greene, NICU Nurse

Sharon Greene and her husband Kenny have been married for 41 years – but he says he’s never been prouder of his wife than he is now!

Sharon is a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she has worked for over 30 years. Sick children come from across the nation to get world-class care at Children’s – and despite the dangers of COVID-19 – Sharon spends almost every day working emergency cases, saving the lives of babies and infants.

But what really sets Sharon apart, says Kenny, is how she spends her time outside of the NICU. “Sharon cares for two of her three sisters that live with us. Carolyn is recovering from a Liver Transplant that she had last Summer, and Ginger is being treated for Bile Duct Cancer.”  When Sharon is not working she is usually at Emory Winship Cancer Center with Ginger, assisting her with treatment.

Amazingly, Sharon’s big heart doesn’t stop there. Kenny told us that lately Sharon has even been using her personal time off to travel around her community and collect medical masks to donate to others who are in need.

Kenny said it best: “She is my wife and best friend – but when I see everything she does for others, I know she is my Hero!”
