While many families have at least one member who is working to serve Georgia at the frontlines, the Shumpert family is absolutely full of COVID Community Heroes.
Ashlea Shumpert is an Emergency Room registered nurse at Northside Cherokee Hospital. Her husband, Rick Shumpert, is a Lieutenant in the Kennesaw Police Department. Ordinarily, this dynamic duo would be spending their time at home with their two young children in Paulding County. But throughout the coronavirus crisis, Ashlea has been working around the clock to tend to COVID patients while Rick has been on the job keeping our communities safe. For weeks on end, they’ve been working long hours in trying situations – putting their own lives on hold to serve Georgia’s families.
Serving as an emergency health care worker or first responder has never been an easy job. But during times of incredible crisis, heroes like Ashlea and Rick should be saluted for their incredible dedication and tremendous efforts to save lives.
