Senator Kelly Loeffler Introduces Legislation to Outlaw Database for Lawful Gun-Owners

SENATOR KELLY LOEFFLER INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO OUTLAW DATABASE FOR LAWFUL GUN-OWNERS

ATLANTA – Yesterday, conservative businesswoman and political outsider Kelly Loeffler introduced new legislation to require the destruction of any records from approved firearm background checks. In practice, this new law would outlaw any database of licensed gun owners and prevent a national gun registry for legal, law-abiding gun owners. The Department of Justice would retain its ability to track criminal firearm offenses and offenders.

“These uncertain times demonstrate the clear need for strong 2nd Amendment protections that enable Americans to exercise their right to bear arms without fear of government retribution,” said Senator Loeffler. “As a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment, I stand firmly against gun registries and owner databases for lawful gun owners. Whether our families own guns for protection, for sport, or to defend against an oppressive government – I will always stand up for our fundamental right to keep and bear arms.”
