ATLANTA – Today, Senator Kelly Loeffler was recognized by Americans for Tax Reform (ATF) as the first candidate to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in the race for U.S. Senate. Loeffler, the only Republican in the race who has never voted to raise taxes, is now also the only candidate who has committed to opposing all tax increases at the federal level. “As the only Republican in this race who has never voted for a tax increase, I am proud to be the first and only candidate who has signed a pledge to reject all tax increases,” said Loeffler. “As a political outsider and conservative businesswoman, I believe we should reduce the size and scope of government and Georgians should keep more money in their own pockets. In the Senate, I will always stand firm against reckless spending and regulations that cripple growth. I will bring back common-sense fiscal responsibility that puts taxpayers – not big government – first.”
“The Taxpayer Protection Pledge stands as a barrier against tax hikes and makes continued pro-growth tax reform possible. We are ecstatic about Sen. Loeffler’s decision to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to the taxpayers of Georgia,” said Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform.
Americans for Tax Reform is the nation’s premier anti-tax advocacy group. ATR opposes all tax increases and encourages lawmakers to support simpler, flatter, more visible, and lower tax policies. Founded by Grover Norquist in 1985, ATR believes that the government’s power to control the lives of the American people derives from its power to tax. The group has been promoting the Taxpayer Protection Pledge since the early 1990s.
