SEN. KELLY LOEFFLER ISSUES UPDATES ON ONGOING RESPONSE TO COVID-19
ATLANTA – Today, Senator Kelly Loeffler highlighted recent efforts to combat and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state of Georgia. Loeffler is working with President Trump, Governor Kemp, and other key stakeholders in an effort to mobilize resources, inform the public, and keep Georgia families safe.
“The safety of Georgia’s families is our top priority as we work to combat the coronavirus in Georgia,” said Sen. Loeffler. “Already, we have taken significant steps to address the threat of COVID-19, and we are working to leverage every federal and state resource to keep our fellow Georgians healthy. I am working with the Trump Administration and Governor Kemp to ensure our state has all of the support and guidance it needs, and I am tremendously grateful for the strong partnership of private sector leaders who are helping to address this public health emergency. Additionally, I want to applaud President Trump and his administration for issuing a national emergency declaration so that we can harness the full range of federal resources to protect our country. We are dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of Georgia families in every corner of our state.”
Last week, Loeffler voted for an $8.3 billion supplemental funding package to increase resources to combat the coronavirus in communities across the country. Yesterday, she announced that Georgia will receive almost $15 million in emergency funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to fund prevention and treatment efforts across the state. Senator Loeffler will continue working with partners at the federal, state, and local level to address the issue.
As a member of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Loeffler has frequent communication with key stakeholders including the President, Vice President, State Department, Health Department, Homeland Security, CDC, and the Coronavirus Task Force to monitor developments on behalf of Georgia.
Sen. Kelly Loeffler is a conservative businesswoman and political outsider who was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve as Georgia’s junior Senator in the United States Senate. Using her experience in the private sector, Loeffler has championed President Trump’s fair-trade deals, backed efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, sponsored legislation to protect the unborn, and proudly stood in defense of the 2nd Amendment. In the Senate, Loeffler serves on the Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committees, where she is working to Keep America Great by creating jobs, strengthening our public safety, and investing in our communities and families.
